Lori Langrud - Reading Resources of MNAbout Reading Resources

Reading Resources was founded to help families with dyslexic learners find the resources and support needed to help them become successful.  We work with individual families as well as educators and school districts to find everything from qualified dyslexia assessors, Orton-Gillingham tutor support, and the detailed training needed to equip parents and teachers how best to understand our dyslexics students as well as help them thrive within their learning environment.

Our Story

Every story has a beginning, middle and end

The Beginning: of Reading Resources was when Lori and Dave Langerud learned that all four of their children had dyslexia – a genetic condition that doesn’t “go away.” They were bright students who learned quickly but struggled with reading, writing and spelling.

The Middle: The Langeruds determined that Orton-Gillingham tutoring for their children was vital, but expensive. To do the tutoring herself, Lori became certified in the Barton Reading and Spelling system. The Langerud children’s reading improved quickly; their grades changed dramatically, confidence rose and self esteem soared.

The End: Lori started Reading Resources to provide tutoring with the Barton System for other students as well as support and instruction for parents and teachers who wanted to work with their own struggling readers.

"I have always loved stories and I learned to read because I was determined to figure it out even though I was an undiagnosed dyslexic.  When my husband and I realized that not just our first grader but all four of our children were dyslexic, I was overwhelmed.  Tutors and testing cost so much and I couldn’t find anyone to walk me through the process.  I wanted a place to ask questions, to find support and other families like mine.  I wanted cost effective tools and tried and true methods that made reading and spelling less exhausting and more joyful. That’s why Reading Resources was created – to be all the things I wished I could have had as we helped our kids find success." - Lori Langerud
